Fable Socks

**DETAILS** The Fable Socks are a cuff-down sock pattern featuring a diamond pointelle motif and half-twisted rib details alongside a matching slip stitch heel flap. The heel flap and gusset construction allows for easy customization depending on the height of your arch. All the details come together to create a delicate and well-fitting sock. ____________________ **SIZES** 1 (2, 3, 4) 5 To fit: Child (Teen, Adult Small, Adult Medium) Adult Large *Pattern photos shown on feet are Adult Small size on a women's US 9 size foot.* Depending on the size you knit, the charts are slightly different. All sizes use the same pointelle motif alongside ribbing for texture and a great fit. These slight variations allowed me to create a more accessible and size-inclusive pattern. ____________________ **MEASUREMENTS** Unstretched Sock Circumference: 5.25 (6.25, 7, 8) 8.75” / 13.25 (16, 17.75, 20.25) 22.25 cm around ball of your foot. I recommend choosing a size with 0.5–1” / 1–2.5 cm negative ease around the ball of your foot. *See last pattern photo for complete schematic.* ____________________ **YARN REQUIREMENTS** *The amount of yarn you'll need will vary depending on size knit, the length of your foot (which is knit to measure in the pattern), and the specific sock yarn you use.* *Approximate* yardage/meterage for a pair of socks: 190 (220, 260, 310) 350 yds / 174 (201, 238, 283) 320 m ____________________ **RECOMMENDED YARN** A fingering weight yarn with a blend of wool and nylon is ideal for this pattern. I have personally knit samples in the following yarns: * **Red sample:** Coast to Coast Yarn Co. Classic Sock (400yds/100g, 80% SW merino, 20% nylon) in the color Rosehip. * **Green sample:** Gusto Wool Core (440yds/100g, 80% merino, 20% nylon) in the color 1019. ____________________ **SUGGESTED NEEDLES** US 1 / 2.25mm in your preferred style (9” circular, magic loop, and/or DPNs. *Note that if you are using 9" circulars you will need to use either DPNs or magic loop to work the toes.* ____________________ **NOTIONS** 2 stitch markers (distinct from one another), tapestry needle for weaving in ends, scissors. ____________________ **TECHNIQUES USED** * Italian cast on (tutorial provided or you can easily substitute alternate cast on) * Knitting from a chart in the round (tutorial provided) * Basic stitches: knit, purl, ktbl, slip stitches * Various increases and decreases: YO, K2tog, CDD (tutorial provided), SSK * Kitchener stitch for bind off at toe (tutorial provided) This pattern has been tested by knitters with a wide variety of experience levels (confident beginners to advanced), including knitters who hadn't created socks before.
