The Poppy Top

The Poppy top is a playful raglan design, with fun details - pop stitches running along the raglan increases and a diagonal button-up opening in the back. It has a boxy fit, with very wide & low sleeves – think a kind of faux batwing. This is achieved by knitting a low raglan yoke and adding more stitches than usual for raglan constructions. This means you could also wear it as a cardigan (or top) with the buttons at the front. The pattern itself is quite easy and straightforward. To get the slanted opening, we increase at the beginning and decrease at the end of every fourth row. For the raglan increases, we work an increase before and after the raglan line (consisting of 3 sts). Every 9th row we add a pop stitch into the raglan line. So once you get into the rythm, it kind of just flows! In addition to increases and decreases (M1L, M1R & K2tog), we will use pop stitches and make 1x1 ribbing as well as a few one-row button holes. The pattern is therefore suitable for an advanced beginner, or even an adventurous beginner. There is also a full video tutorial, which will be helpful for visual learners. It is available in size XS, S, M, L, and XL and will require 6 (7) 7 (8) 8 skeins of Drops Belle (or any other yarn that hits gauge).
