Rippled Waffles Baby Blanket

This new take on an old classic is a chevron baby blanket worked in waffle stitch, featuring increases and decreases worked in pattern. The vertical lines created by those increases and decreases not only break up the visual effect of the overall pattern but emphasize the lattice-like appearance of waffle stitch turned diagonally. The blanket is made in aran weight yarn, with a size J (6mm) hook and is a 2-row repeat. The increases and decreases are specialized, and the blanket starts with foundation double crochet and ends with crab stitch, but instructions are provided for all specialized stitches in the pattern. The finished blanket is a bit on the small side, making it convenient for car seats and strollers, but it is also thick and cozy–perfect for cold weather, tummy time, or a picnic blanket for a teddy bear tea party!
