The “Knit & Purl Sampler” cowl is that great unisex cowl you’ll love to whip up for your favorite person or as a quick weekend knit because you can customize it as much as you desire. You can literally make every cowl unique! The varied stitch patterns make the cowl interesting to stitch while also being one you can knit without requiring a lot of concentration. (Anyone need a TV-watching or passenger project?) The cowl looks great in almost any yarn but really shines when the yarn has good stitch definition and a solid(ish) color. You can use up those singleton skeins leftover from previous projects or those special skeins you’ve been saving for the perfect knit. Tonal, speckled, solid or hand-dyed… this pattern shows off your yarn to it’s best. Heavily variegated or quickly changing colors may overwhelm the stitch patterns but that simply makes the pattern into a lovely tactile cowl for those people who need to hold their “comfort” in their hands. There really isn’t a ‘required gauge’ for this cowl; you can make it larger or smaller using whatever yarn, needle and multiple of 10 cast on stitch count you need to obtain the size cowl you need. Each of the included stitch patterns are 9 rows tall by 10 stitches wide. Adding or subtracting a multiple of 10 from the original cast on of 100 stitches will change the cowl circumference to match your yarn and needles.
