Matcha Waltz

This is a circular yoke sweater worked from the top down. The combination of larger needles and fine yarn creates a transparent, airy, and loose fabric. The upper body features two bands of pink butterfly motifs and a tiny green flower on the chest. The flower is embroidered using French Knots and Cast On Stitch. Of course, you may choose to replace it with a dainty brooch or leave it blank for a simple look. My initial inspiration came from butterflies dancing in a lush garden in spring or summer. However, as the piece progressed, the fresh color palette reminded me of matcha ice cream topped with a hint of strawberry. In the end, I decided to merge these two inspirations into one, and thus, "Matcha Waltz" was born. *Note: The fabric of my sample is quite sheer, allowing prints or text from the layer underneath to subtly show through and create a layered effect. If you prefer a cleaner look, simply pair your finished piece with a solid-colored base layer.* Yarn ---- Lace-weight mohair is used. The main body is worked with a single strand of Main Color (MC). For the sections using Contrasting Color (CC), use two strands of Contrasting Color (CC) held together on the upper body and a single strand of CC on the lower body. **Suggested yarn:** Lang Yarns Lace Mohair Silk [310 m (339 yds) / 25 g], or Lamana Premia [300 m (328 yds) / 25 g], or ITO Sensai [240 m (262 yds) / 20 g], or any yarn of similar weight that achieves the required gauge. **Suggested yardage:** MC—320 (340, 370, 400, 455) (535, 610, 685, 750) yds/293 (311, 339, 366, 417) (490, 558, 627, 686) m CC—240 (260, 280, 290, 370) (430, 460, 510, 550) yds/220 (238, 257, 266, 339) (394, 421, 467, 503) m MC for the flower—43 (43, 43, 43, 43) (72, 72, 72, 72) yds/40 (40, 40, 40, 40) (66, 66, 66, 66) m Estimates do not include the gauge swatch or other waste. Extra yarn is recommended. Gauge ----- Gauge should be measured after washing and blocking. 18 sts x 33 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4" in stockinette stitch on 4.0 mm / US 6 needles with a single strand of yarn. A fine yarn paired with larger needles to help achieve the required gauge. Needles ------- 4.0 mm / US 6 for the main body. 3.25 mm / US 3 for the ribbing. Adjust needle size to meet the gauge. Sizing & Finished Measurements ------------------------------ **Sizes:** 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9). **Finished bust circumference:** 95.5 (100, 106.5, 113.5, 122) (131, 142, 155.5, 164.5) cm / 37½ (39¼, 42, 44½, 48) (51½, 56, 61¼, 64¾)". **Suggested ease:** 16–23 cm / 6¼–9" of positive ease. This means the finished bust circumference of the sweater should be 16–23 cm / 6¼–9" larger than your actual bust measurement. Please refer to the detailed measurements in the table to confirm your size selection. Before choosing a size, pay particular attention to the finished bust measurement (a) and yoke depth (c), and how your actual gauge may affect them.
