Because I’m totally my cats’ dealer. I’ve lost access to my word processing software (damn you paid subscriptions!) so since this is a relatively easy pattern I guess I’ll just write it here. This project looks best if done using jogless colour changes and invisible decreases. I use a tea or herb bag to put the catnip in before stuffing it into the body to prevent it leaking out, but you can use a cloth bag if you prefer. Feel free to use any DK weight cotton yarn for safety and durability. Acrylic is fine I guess, but your pet doesn’t really need to ingest microplastics, do they? Start with yellow yarn. Foundation: Start with a 6dc magic ring. Round 1: 2dc in each st (12 st) Change to orange yarn. Round 2: *dc, 2dc in one st* 6 times (18st) Change to dark grey yarn. Round 3: *2dc, 2dc in one st* 6 times (24st) Change to white yarn. Rounds 4-10: dc around (24st) Round 11: *6dc, invisible decrease* 3 times (21st) Rounds 12-14: dc around (21st) Round 15: 2dc, *invisible decrease, 5dc* twice, 3dc (18st) Round 16-17: dc around (18st) Begin stuffing the body. Add catnip if desired (your cats say yes). Add more stuffing as you continue. Round 18: *4dc, invisible decrease* 3 times (15st) Round 19: dc around (15st) Round 20: *3dc, invisible decrease* 3 times (12st) Round 21: *2dc, invisible decrease* 3 times (9st) Round 22: *dc, invisible decrease* 3 times (6st) Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Using a yarn needle, run the tail through the front loops of Round 22 and pull tight to close. Weave in all ends. I swear that isn’t mine, officer!
