LITTLE DRAGON CROCHET PATTERN - BY LAUTERCREEK This is a digital PDF file, not a physical object! Create a cute crochet dragon that looks like it soared straight out of fantasy land! This crochet pattern combines simplicity with realism while still looking absolutely adorable. A variety of ornamentation options can be found within the pattern, allowing you to create your own unique dragon. Instructions include how to add wire, making it posable. It's the perfect addition to a display shelf, or as a toy for boys or girls, young and old! This crochet dragon pattern spans 57 richly detailed pages, filled with step‑by‑step photos, helpful charts, and encouraging tips to guide you from start to finish. For those who prefer a streamlined format, the final 15 pages feature a text‑only version—perfect for saving ink when printing. If you choose the simplified version, you can always refer back to the included photos whenever you need a visual reference to support the written instructions. The options are limitless! Use your favorite color yarn in any size. Crochet a larger dragon with chunky yarn or a mini version using small yarn. Depending on your tension, with standard worsted medium weight yarn, the final dragon will measure approximately 10 inches long from tail to nose, 4 inches tall from toe to head, and about 16 inches wide if the wings are spread out. Gauge is not crucial in this pattern, so long as the stitches are uniform and do not allow stuffing to be visible through the holes. --------------------------------------------------------- SKILL LEVEL: Confident Beginner. Though this dragon is designed to be easier to make than many other dragon crochet patterns available, if you’re new to crocheting, I still recommend making one or two other amigurumi patterns before tackling this one. LANGUAGE: English (US terminology) SUPPLIES: -Yarn: In any size and in any gauge. All the dragons in the images are made with medium weight yarn. I recommend using at least two colors (one for the body, and one for the wings + any other optional details), but I definitely encourage using more colors - feel free to be creative! Using worsted medium weight yarn, you will need an approximate minimum of 151 yards/278 grams, not counting any extra optional details you may wish to make. BODY: 21 yards LEGS: 24 yards HEAD: 8 yards WINGS: 98 yards (60 yards in Color 1, 38 in Color 2) + Extra yards for any optional details. -Hook: Use a hook several sizes smaller from the yarn’s recommended size in order to prevent holes in your work. With medium weight yarn, I’ve used F (3.75mm) and G (4.00mm) hooks to make these dragons with great success. -Stuffing: Polyfil, or use rice, beans, wool, etc -Safety Eyes: I used 8-12mm safety eyes for this dragon. Choose a size that looks appropriate to you. You could also embroider eyes if you prefer. -Wire (optional): For the wings, you’ll need two 18”-20” lengths of 12-18g wire - err on the side of larger wire if you can get it! I used repurposed electric wire, but you can cut up a wire clothes hanger, or buy paper-wrapped wire on amazon or from the faux flower bouquet aisle in craft stores. If you also wish to add wire to the legs, you’ll need four 4” lengths of 14-24g wire - you can get away with using smaller size wire for the legs, or just use the same wing wire. -Tapestry Needle -Scissors ADDITIONAL NOTES: This pattern has been independently tested by close to a dozen unaffiliated people! However, if you notice a mistake, please reach out to me and I will correct it ASAP! Happy crafting! I hope you enjoy crocheting this dragon as much as I enjoyed creating it!
