Nordic Glacier Adventure Sweater

Nordic Glacier Adventure ❄️ A glacier-inspired circular yoke sweater design born from my travels in Iceland — especially the unforgettable atmosphere of Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. This sweater combines icy blues, glacier textures, volcanic contrasts and Nordic geometric motifs into a modern stranded colorwork design. The first finished version features the more abstract chart option, inspired by cracked ice, moving water and glacier formations. The sweater is designed to be approachable even if you are new to colorwork. The pattern is written in US knitting terminology and includes detailed beginner-friendly instructions as well as shorter instructions for more experienced knitters Construction The sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down. The neckline and yoke are worked first, followed by the colorwork. The sleeves are separated at the underarm, and the body is worked in the round down to the hem. The sleeves are then worked from the top down with gradual decreases towards the wrist. Working from the top down also allows you to try the sweater on as you go and adjust the body and sleeve lengths to your preference. Colorwork charts The pattern includes four different yoke chart options: ❄️Original – the detailed original design ❄️Simplified – a simplified version with fewer long floats and fewer rounds worked with three or more colors at once ❄️Abstract – a geometric interpretation of the design ❄️Simplified Abstract – a simplified version of the abstract design ❄️A separate sleeve chart is also included. This gives you several ways to approach the colorwork depending on your preferred style and experience. Sizes: 9 sizes (Youth & Adult sizes) Finished bust circumference: 85–156 cm / 33.5–61.5 in The pattern includes finished garment measurements and guidance for choosing your size. Yarn The pattern is designed for Aran-weight yarn. The sample sweaters are knitted using: Novita 7 Veljestä – 100 g / 200 m Ístex Léttlopi – 50 g / 100 m Yarn requirements can vary depending on the chosen yoke version, color placement, sleeve option and individual knitting gauge. Gauge 18 stitches = 10 cm / 4 in Stockinette stitch worked in the round. A gauge swatch is recommended before starting. If your colorwork gauge is tighter than your stockinette gauge, the pattern also includes guidance for adjusting your needle size.
