Moon Petal Hood

The Moon Petal Hood is a hood/balaclava designed to be simple and comfortable to wear. Keeping your head and neckline warm and make you feel ‘’ hugged’’ by the soft merino/mohair blend. Easy to style, simple to wear. With a top down construction, using one strand merino and one strand silk mohair yarn held together. The work starts with casting on stitches for the forehead, working flat on the head part. Picking up stitches alongside the edging, then working on the hood part back and forth until the neck. The work then joins in the round in simple ribbing to create the neckline. Finishing with folded edge, creating a space for the I- cord strings in the end. SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate (suitable for confident beginners) SIZE: one size to fit head circumf. 54-60 cm GAUGE: 10x10 cm/4" = 24sts x 24rows in 3 out of 3 stitch and 26sts x 40 rows in ribbing, after washing and blocking, on 4mm needles. YARN: 100g of DROPS Baby Merino /50g, 175m (1.8oz, 191yds), held together with 30g of silk mohair /25g, 210m (0.9oz, 230 yds) or substitute yarns to meet the gauge. The hood is knit with 1 strand of merino and 1 strand of mohair held together. The amount yarn given is the total amount needed for the finished garment. NEEDLES: 4mm, 60- 80 cm circular needles, (US 6) 24" - 32" and two 3,5mm double piointed needles for I- cord ties. NOTIONS: tapestry needle, stitch marker
