**The look of lace, without knitting lace!** Long skinny scarves are trending, but who has time to knit a complicated lace version? Here, easy drop-stitch “lace” on both ends makes for a quick and simple knit, with speedy bias stockinette in between. Soon you’ll be wrapping your boldly colored scarf around your neck and wearing it with flair! ------------------------- **Yarn:** 325 yds/297m of sportweight or light DK yarn. Turquoise sample knit with 1 skein Malabrigo Susurro (325yds/297m each) in colorway Bobby Blue.
**Needles:** US 7/4.5mm needles, or size to get gauge.
**Notions:** 6 stitch markers; scrap yarn or stitch holder for holding stitches; darning needle for weaving in ends and seaming. **Gauge:** approximately 19 sts & 28 rows = 4”/10cm in stockinette st, blocked.
**Dimensions (blocked):** length: 94"/239cm; width (across bias stockinette middle section): 6”/15.2cm. *Note: scarf is stretchy and will get a little narrrower and longer when worn.* ------------------------ **Pattern Notes:** - This pattern is a great choice for smooth, drapey yarn blends with silk, linen, or rayon/viscose. Very smooth superwash wool or long staple cotton works well too. Avoid aggressively slubby or sticky yarns (mohair); the dropped stitches will be harder to do. - The scarf is knit in two pieces and then grafted so that the ends will be exact matches. The lacy pattern is created from a combination of dropped stitches and a panel of twisted stitches. Switching between twisted stitches and normal stitches creates a lacy illusion—without actually having to knit lace. - Scarf is knit on the bias to reduce curling. - The scarf is long enough to wrap twice around your neck or just once for a longer look.
