(Welsh: Ystlumod Dew)
Adorable, fat little bats dart up or down these socks, which also feature mini cables, rice-stitch sides and cuffs, a beautiful Welsh heel, and a hemmed picot cuff.
Suitable for solid, tonal, or speckled yarns.
The pattern is written for top down OR toe up, and will look great either way!
**Materials:**
- Fingering weight yarn, 400-460 yards to 100 grams (Sport yarn 200-250 yds)
- 2 or 4 stitch markers for BOR or pattern
**Needle size:** 4DPNs or Circular needle(s) in size:
US 1-1.5 (2.25-2.5mm) for fingering, US 2-3 (2.75mm-3mm) for sport weight, or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge is important to size. The pattern is designed with just a little negative ease. You should get 8-9 st/11-12 rows to the inch for fingering, 7st/9 rows for Sport weight. **Note:** *This pattern runs a little small! You may wish to go up a needle size from your usual.*
**Stitches used:**
K = Knit
P = Purl
SL = Slip
YO = Yarn over
K2tog = Knit 2 together
KFB = Knit front and back into the same stitch
SSK = sl 2 st kwise, put L needle in front, k 2st tog TBL
RT = Knit into front of 2nd stitch, then knit first stitch. Slip both stitches off.
LT = Knit 2nd stitch TBL, then knit 1st and 2nd stitch tog TBL; Sl both st off
TBL = Through the back loop
M1L = Knit into the back loop of the YO
M1R = Re-orient the YO so that the left “leg” of the stitch is forward, knit into front of the stitch
