This adventurous beginner, top-down t-shirt pattern includes a classic boxy shape, with ribbing details and short-row shaping to create a scooped front and back finish at the bottom of the top. This sporty top can look adorable dressed down with sweats or dressed up! This pattern is perfect for any body, any yarn, and any skill level. Sizes This pattern is written to meet the finished measurements in the chart provided below, with finished bust sizes: 36, 40, 44 (48, 52, 56, 60)[64, 68, 72]"/91.5, 102, 112 (122, 132.5, 142.5, 152.5)[162.5, 173, 183]cm. The sample was knit to about 10"/25.5cm of positive ease (larger than my body measurements) at my full bust. With previous garments, I have found through testers and my own samples, that these patterns can easily accommodate from 4"/10cm up to 10"/25.5cm of positive ease. Materials You will need one stitch marker and one BOR marker, waste yarn or extra needles to hold live stitches, darning needle, scissors, measuring tape, and your super amazing body. Techniques You will need to know how to pick up stitches, knit in the round, purl, increase, decrease, hold stitches, complete a sewn bind-off, block, weave in ends, and have fun. Suggested Yarn Sunfish from thelittlewolfknits: 75/25 superwash merino/nylon, fingering weight 4-ply, 463yd/424m per 100g. The sample used two skeins of Tramonto. Any light fingering should work – just make sure to adjust to get gauge. -Alternatives include: o Knit Picks Stroll o Cascade Yarns Heritage Suggested Needles Main Needle: US 5 (3.75mm) circular needle Ribbing Needle: US 4 (3.5mm) circular needle But use whatever needle you need to achieve gauge! Gauge 24 sts x 32 rows = 4”/10cm stockinette knit in the round and blocked with your main needle. When swatching, remember to cast on more stitches than you’re intending to measure so that you can get an accurate measurement (the end and beginning stitches tend to be looser). I recommend using this tutorial to start and finish the swatch for the most accurate measurements. Yardage: For the top as written to the cropped length, you’ll need: 405, 447, 490 (560, 605, 650, 694)[774, 821, 867]yds/370, 409, 448 (512, 553, 594, 634)[708, 751, 793]m of Sunfish. If using the suggested yarns, that would be 1, 1, 2 (2, 2, 2, 2)[2, 2, 2] skeins of Sunfish. For the top as written to the full length, you’ll need: 552, 610, 669 (756, 817, 878, 938)[1035, 1099, 1161]yds/504, 557, 612 (691, 746, 802, 858)[946, 1004, 1061]m of Sunfish. If using the suggested yarns, that would be 2, 2, 2 (2, 2, 2, 3)[3, 3, 3] skeins of Sunfish. However, check your yardage, because several of these sizes barely dip into the last skein, so with the extra yardage allowance, and typically larger than 100g skeins, you might be able to get away with one less skein (especially if you plan to reuse your swatch). I was able to do so on my sample, however, if you don’t want to play yarn chicken - get the extra skein! Each additional 1"/2.5cm of length to the body will require approximately an additional 34, 38, 41 (45, 49, 52, 56)[60, 63, 67]yds/31, 34, 38 (41, 45, 48, 51)[55, 58, 61]m.
