This will be delivered in forms of a PDF file, in which you will find access to the spreadsheet link. The Checkerboard Top is a zip-front tank top, featuring the checkerboard stitch pattern, slanted zipper in the front, and a high neckline with a doubled knitted collar. This pattern uses adaptive math to ensure a custom fit regardless of your gauge or body measurements. This is an advanced knit, and it is worked top down. First, the top of the back is worked. The neckline in the back is shaped with German Short Rows technique, and worked until the underarm. Then the front panels on the left and right side are picked up and worked separately towards the underarm. These are then joined together, and the body is worked in the flat. The zipper slant will be shaped simultaneously throughout the entire garment, along with bust, waist, and lower waist shaping. The Checkerboard stitch is used throughout the entire garment, while rib stitch is used for the armhole edges and both sides of the main body. The collar is picked up once the main body is done, and worked in double knitting. Zippers are attached at the very end, after the garment is blocked and dried completely. You will find links to access video tutorials for certain techniques, the interactive spreadsheet, and diagrams in this pattern. Techniques used (written instructions and video tutorials included): * Checkerboard stitch - alternating knit and purl blocks * Double knitting * Hand sewing zipper * Long Tail Cast On * Rib stitch * German Short Rows (GSR) * Picking up stitches from the cast on edge * Right Leaning Increase (make 1 right and make 1 purl right) * Left Leaning Increase (make 1 left and make 1 purl left) * Right Leaning Decrease (knit 2 together and purl 2 together through back loop) * Left Leaning Decrease (slip slip knit and purl 2 together) * Knitted-On Cast On * Kitchener Stitch * Knit Front and Back (KFB) and Double Knitting * Non-Curling Bind Off * Italian Tubular Bind Off * Trimming zipper to size and hand sewing zipper to knitted garment: Basting and Back stitch. That being said if you prefer machine sewing that is also fine. Find out more photos on instagram @THELOOPTHEORY!
