Notes from the Designer:
My great-grandmother was named Bertha, and she excelled at making pretty things to decorate her home with whatever supplies were handy. Even during the Depression and World War II when times were difficult, she still managed to keep her family warm and her home pretty with her handcrafted doilies, blankets, and clothes. In honor of her, I designed this Granny Square blanket, which uses six different block designs that all work together to create a snuggly throw blanket. The blocks are based on stitches from *200 Crochet Blocks* by Jan Eaton.
* Click [here][6] to watch a video showing how to work the special stitches featured in this pattern.
* The sample shown used approximately 1,789 yds/1,636 m total: Color A: 261 yds/239 m, Color B: 257 yds/235 m, Color C: 250 yds/229 m, Color D: 246 yds/225 m, Color E: 250 yds/229 m, and Color F: 514 yds/470 m.
* This blanket is made by crocheting the individual squares and then adding a border, which will be used to join them together into the final piece.
* If you wish to make a larger blanket, work additional blanket rows, ending on Row 1, or increase the width by working extra versions of Blocks 1, 2, 3, and 5. (See table on page 10).
* Refer to the Granny Square schematic on page 10 to help keep track of where you are in the square, as you go along. Newer crocheters may find this tool helpful.
