Why is it called the Mullet Tank? Cause it features a high neckline and classic ribbing for a “business in the front” look you can wear to the office, but the back features a beautiful lace panel for a full “party in the back” vibe that’s perfect for going for after work margaritas on a summer evening.
This design includes (optional) bust decreases for the perfect fit. This pattern is knit top down and seamlessly so no sewing required!
**Sizes**
Sizes 1 (2, 3, 4) 5 (6, 7, 8) 9 (10, 11) correspond to a 28 (32, 36, 40) 44 (48, 52, 56) 60 (64, 68) inch or 71 (81, 91, 102) 112 (122, 132, 142) 152 (163, 173) cm bust circumference (your actual bust)
This pattern is intended to have 1 inch of negative ease (when moderately stretched). The ribbing will be surprisingly stretchy (width wise), so don’t be alarmed if it looks small while you are making it.
The sample on the front page is a size 3 and I have a 36-37 in bust. I recommend choosing a size closest to your actual bust.
**Yarn**
This pattern was originally designed Knitting for Olive Cotton Merino. I have also made a sample using Knitting for Olive Pure Silk. Cotton, linen, and silk are not elastic like wool, so they will not snap back in place even with ribbing and may stretch out more than wool. The yardage estimates are based on the tank pattern as written, without the bust decreases. If you lengthen the torso or the straps, you may need more yarn than what is listed. If you do bust decreases, you may need less yarn.

**Gauge**
Due to the stretchiness of ribbing, it can be hard to reliably measure gauge. I recommend knitting a 4” x 4” square (10 cm x 10 cm) swatch, blocking and pinning the swatch so that all stitches are visible. You don’t want the swatch so stretched that the whole piece is under large amounts of tension, but enough stretch so that it requires some pinning to stay in place. I recommend trying the tank on as soon as is reasonable to ensure that you like the amount of stretch the garment has.
*Note:* When ribbing is stretched widthwise, it will shorten lengthwise so make a note of how much your swatch shortened.
**Gauge** (moderately stretched): Using US 2/ 2.75 mm needles in 2x2 ribbing, 28 stitches x 40 rows = 4 inches knit in the round
