Woodland Sunglasses Case

This is a written crochet pattern for the “Woodland Sunglasses Case”- a small pouch bag with green/brown zigzags resembling woodland, and drawstring closure with a decorative amigurumi mushroom charm on the end. Although designed to fit sunglasses (& standard glasses), the case would also work well as a pouch to hold other long narrow items such as crochet hooks, pens, a small handheld fan, a small sunscreen bottle, camping cutlery, earphones etc. The pattern is available in both US and UK terms. The PDF file is 11 pages long with detailed instructions and lots of photos. In addition to Ravelry, this pattern is also available on my Etsy store to purchase. This pattern is suitable for crocheters that are already familiar with amigurumi and basic crochet stitches/techniques (e.g sc, hdc, dc, inc, dec, working into ch-sps, colour changing, etc). One speciality stitch is also used: a double crochet spike stitch. A photo tutorial explains how to complete this stitch, however you will need to become quickly comfortable/familiar with it, as the double crochet spike stitch is used extensively in the pattern. The sunglasses case is worked in joined rounds. The mushroom is worked in continuous rounds. This project is considered low sew as no pieces have to be sewn together. However please note yarn ends (mainly from colour changes) need to weaved in, the drawstring needs to weaved through a round and the white mushroom spots need to be embroidered. Materials & Tools Required: •DK/8ply weight yarn, in colours light green, dark green, light brown, dark brown and red. •A crochet hook that matches your yarn weight and personal tension (I used 3mm). •Small amount of white thread/yarn for embroidering mushroom spots. •Small amount of toy stuffing for mushroom (you could use yarn scraps to stuff with instead if necessary/as an alternative). •Scissors •Tapestry/finishing needle •Stitch markers (optional) Using a 3mm hook and DK weight yarn my finished sunglasses case (when flat) measured 8cm wide by 17.5cm tall. Gauge swatch details are included in the pattern to help with sizing.
