Blades and Moguls

This cowl uses the highly textured dimple stitch. Both sides of dimple stitch are attractive. On one side the fabric looks like a series of crisp-edged crosses or diamonds; on the other, it looks like a series of mounds. Consequently, in honor of the 2026 Winter Olympics, which were occurring at the same time as the development of this pattern, this cowl is named Blades and Moguls. Luckily, dimple stitch is much easier than spinning on slim blades, skiing through moguls, or even knitting cables. The fabric is created using simple slipped stitches and dipped stitches. The cowl is lapped and buttoned into a V at the front. Placing buttons on both sides of the fabric allows the wearer to flip the cowl and wear it either way. The pattern offers an option for yarn-over buttonholes, or you can omit the buttonholes and just attach the buttons through both layers of the fabric to keep the cowl permanently lapped.
