Flowing Cables and Vines Poncho

Welcome to my first poncho! I’m so excited to be creating more wearables with the Overlay Mosaic Crochet technique. IN ENGLISH ONLY You get a full pictorial description with this pattern. A fully written pattern. Individual charts. Full chart. There’s 5 parts to this project, the main panel [not symmetrical], joining the poncho, the border around the bottom, the border around the neck and the collar. I used DK yarn with a 3.5mm hook throughout, except for the slip stitches [4.5] and collar, please see those parts for information. It’s not recommended to use a thinner yarn as the poncho will be too small but suitable for a child. If you used thicker yarn the poncho will be bigger so use a smaller hook than the yarn specifies. There is an extra pattern of the extended border, you can create this if you don’t feel that the poncho is big enough, its an extra download in your library. I used Yarnsmiths Merino DK in Brown Bear [shade 3070] for my background colour, the detailed in Oatmeal [shade 3064]. The main pattern I used 1,338m, 608g, 13 skeins of Brown Bear [background], and Oatmeal 900m, 450g, 9 skeins [detailed]. The border around the bottom of the poncho, in Brown Bear I used 136m, 62g. The neck border, Brown Bear, 39m, 14g. The Collar in Brown Bear, 226m, 98g, 2 skeins. Total of background colour, 1,739m [782g]. Total of detailed colour 900m [450g]. Total amount of yarn 1,232g, 2,639m. Main panel before the border measures 52”/132cm long, with border 54”/137cm long. Main panel width, 26”/66cm. Main panel folded, 26”/136cm square, with border folded 27”/68.5cm square. Neck width folded, 8”/20.5cm. A HUGE THANK YOU TO MY INCREDIBLE TESTERS! Barbara created her beautifully colourful poncho using NAKO Sultan [100 % Premium Acrylic, 480m/150g] total used 440g purple-green gradient for background, and YarnArt jeans [45 % Acrylic, 55% Cotton, yardage 160m/50g], total used 420g dark green for detailed and collar. Total weight: 860 g. Hook: 3.5 (collar 4.5). Measures: 71 cm square (collar 15cm tall – 10 repeats). Instead of buttons, she attached a homemade FIMO brooch (modelling clay). Christina used Hobbi Black Friday Acrylic in White for the detailed colour, 2,810m [1200.8yds], 305g. for the background colour, Deramores Studio Baby Luxe in Merlot, 1,712.5m [1872.8 yds] 685g. the beautiful poncho was created with a 4mm hook and measures 76/68cm. Terri used Bernat Softee Baby in Navy for her Background colour totalling 639g, 1,510m. For the detailed colour she used Hayfield Spirit in Cream, 348g, 974m. Terri’s amazing poncho measures 57”/57” with a 3.5mm hook and 4.5mm hook for the slip stitches with the border. Terry used Hobby Lobby Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek DK in Linen [04] to make her beautiful poncho, for her detailed colour, 4 skeins 1,912 yds and for her background, Oxblood [07] 2,390 yds. Each skein has 478 yds.
