La Palette Sweater & Vest

La Palette Sweater/Vest is a top-down seamless sweater/vest with a simple, yet elegant braid along the shoulder and/or sleeves that I hope will become a staple in your wardrobe! First, the neck will be knitted in the round, choosing between a **stockinette neck** or a **turtleneck**. Then, you’ll knit some German short rows, to shape the neck and knit the yoke while creating the braid along the shoulders. Here you’ll have to choose between making a **vest** (where you’ll knit the front and the back flat and join in the round) or a **sweater** (where you'll knit the sleeve cup while knitting the yoke in the round and then separate the body and the sleeves). The body will be knitted in the round, and finished knitting a 2x2 ribbing or a non-rolling edge. Finally, if you knitted the vest, you’ll knit an i-cord on the armhole edge and, if you knitted the sweater, you’ll knit the sleeves. The pattern includes **written instructions and charts** for every size. About the skill level, I recommend this pattern if you’re a **advanced beginner**, since you’ll use knits, purls, increases and cables, and you'll have to read charts and knit German Short Rows. **Sizes** ----- The pattern comes in 10 sizes (from 80 cm/31.5” to 170 cm/67’’). * If you want and **oversize fit**, I recommend 5 to 10 cm of positive ease. * If you want a more **fitted look**, I recommend no ease. **Gauge** ----- 18 sts x 26 rows =10 cm x 10 cm (4” x 4”) **Materials** --------- * 5 mm circular needles (or the needles you need to match the gauge). * 4 mm circular needles (or 1 mm smaller than the other needles) * Cable needle . * 5 stitch markers (one has to be different to mar the beggining of the round). * Scissors. * Tapestry needle. * Scrap yarn to leave the stitches on hold. **Suggested yarn** ------------------ To knit this vest, you’ll need DK weight yarn. For size A (B, C, D, E) F (G, H, I, J) you’ll need: *For the vest: 340, (360, 380, 430, 460), 500, (540, 580, 620, 690) *For the sweater: 720, (750, 800, 850, 900), 950, (1000, 1050, 1100, 1200) Please, have in mind that, depending on how long you want your vest, the amount of yarn needed may change. Also, if you hold the yarn double, you'll have to double the amount of yarn too.
