***sizes 6 and 8 have not been tested yet, if you're considering making this size and would like to test it, send me an email at zedde.studio@gmail.com and i'll send it for free in exchange for feedback! The Amber Cardigan is knitted top down with a drop shoulder construction in all-over 1x1 rib. The back piece is shaped with german shortrows, then stitches are picked on the shoulder slant to form the neckline and the front panels. The pieces are joined under the arms and worked back and forth until the desired length is obtained. The arms are picked-up and knitted in the round on short circular needles or with the magic loop method. Finally, stitches are picked up for the collar and some increases are made to give it its wide shape. A double-knitted button band is added on the full length of both front panels and the collar. This is an intermediate knitter level, I take for granted that you know how to do the techniques listed under, so they are not explicated in details Sizes: 1 (2) 3 (4) 5 (6) 7 (8) to fit a bust circumference of 75-85 (85-95) 95-105 (105-115) 115-125 (125-135) 135-145 (145-155) cm final garment measures: Circumference: 100 (110) 120 (130) 140 (150) 160 (170) cm length: 47 (48) 49 (50) 52 (55) 57 (60) cm from the center of the back Ease: approx. 20cm The cardigan is designed to have approximately 20 cm of positive ease. To choose the right size, measure your bust circumference (or the widest part of your torso) and add 20cm to it. Choose the size that is the closest to your calculations. If you are in between sizes, I recommend you choose the bigger one because the all-over rib makes the piece cinch in a bit. If you want a looser or tighter fit, simply adjust your desired ease to the calculation (ex: +10 cm or +30cm instead of +20cm). For the brown version, I made it with 20cm of ease, and for the striped version, I made it with 40cm of ease. Gauge: 21x28 in 1x1 rib (bloqued and stretched) on 5mm needles (or whatever size you need to meet gauge) Yarn: 500 (550) 550 (600) 650 (700) 750 (800) g of Cascade 220 Superwash Sport (50g=125m) held with 150 (175) 175 (175) 200 (225) 225 (250) g (25g=210m) of Drops Kid-Silk for the brown version (light and drapey) or 600 (700) 700 (800) 800 (900) 1000 (1000) g of Briggs and Little Heritage (113g = 196m) for the striped version (heavier, more jacket-like) Material: 5mm needles, 4mm circular needles, measuring tape, stitch markers, scrap yarn (or something to put your stitches on hold), yarn needle, 6 buttons (25-30 mm) Techniques used: Long-tail cast-on, german shortrows, 1x1 rib, picking up stitches, double knitting, M1R, M1L, M1RP, M1RL, SSK, K2tog, backloop cast-on, italian bind-off, tubular bind-off
