By the time the peaks had multiplied and the ripples spread outward row by row, it had become something more than a pattern. This is a bottom-up triangle shawl worked entirely in double crochet. What makes it unusual is the construction: new peaks sprout from the growth zone on a 9-row cycle, multiplying symmetrically as the shawl widens, so the ripple pattern literally grows with you. No colour changes needed — a self-striping yarn does all the visual work.
