Camp Bandana

This easy-to-knit bandana is perfect for early spring gardening, summer afternoons on the water, or long, cheery days of outdoor adventures reminiscent of summer camp. Worked in linen or cotton yarn, the Camp Bandana is perfectly lightweight for warmer seasons and durable for daily wear. It is designed for two colours allowing the contrasting ends to play and wrap around each other when knotted, but it’s just as easy to work in a solid colour for a wear-with-anything accessory. **SIZES** 1 (2) **FINISHED MEASUREMENTS** Wingspan: 31.5 (40)" / 80 (101.5) cm. Depth: 13 (16.5)" / 33 (42) cm. **MATERIALS** Yarn: 1 (1) skein each of Undine by Ritual Dyes (60% organic cotton, 40% linen, 383 yds / 350 m – 100 g), in the two colourways Prairie Flax (Colour 1) and Siren (Colour 2). Or 78 (257) yds / 71.5 (235) m of each colour or 156 (514) yds / 143 (470) m for single colour of fingering-weight yarn. Alternative yarn suggestions are Merilin by Isager or Cotton + Flax by Tumalo Fiber. Needles: US 4 / 3.5 mm 24" / 60 cm circular needles. Notions: Waste yarn and US 4 / 3.5 mm / E-4 crochet hook for Provisional CO, stitch markers, T-pins and blocking wires (optional). **GAUGE** 28 sts x 44 rows to 4" / 10 cm on US 4 / 3.5 mm needles in Seeded Rib, after blocking. **NOTES** The Camp Bandana starts with a Provisional Cast-On. It is knit flat, in Seeded Rib, with integrated i-cord edges. It is worked point to point, with increases shaping the first half of the bandana to its widest middle section and decreases shaping the second half to its tip. The first half is worked in C1 and the second half in C2. Size 1 works as a small kerchief to tie around the neck while Size 2 is more generous and covers the shoulders.
