Isabell

Isabell is an ultralight, relaxed, V-neck brioche sweater to wear on a chilly summer day or night. Throw it over a swimsuit or a summer dress to give some extra warmth. Using single strand of silk-mohair yarn makes this garment weigh almost nothing! The inspiration for Isabell came from the yarn: Sara Markkula wanted to experiment with the texture that results from using a single strand of silk-mohair for brioche stitches. The squishy, fluffy but airy net-like texture felt a perfect combination for a summer garment. Or approx. 1160 (1240, 1325, 1455, 1600) (1750, 1915, 2090, 2220, 2350) yds / 1060 (1130, 1210, 1330, 1460) (1600, 1750, 1910, 2030, 2150) m of fluffy lace-weight yarn. Alternative yarn suggestions are for example Tilia by Filcolana or Kid Seta by Gepard Garn. Needles: US 8 / 5 mm 32–40" / 80–100 cm circular needles for body and sleeves, US 7 / 4.5 mm 32–40" / 80–100 cm circular needles for ribbing. Notions: Stitch markers (including 1 locking stitch marker), stitch holders or waste yarn. **GAUGE** 16 sts x 36 rounds and rows to 4" / 10 cm in Brioche St using US 8 / 5 mm needles, after blocking. **NOTES** The sweater is knitted from the top down. First, you’ll work the upper back, then pick up stitches for the right and left front pieces, working the Double Knitted neckline as you go. After joining fronts and back pieces you work the body straight to the hem. The hem is then finished with ribbing with the yarn held double. Finally, you’ll work both sleeves with some decreases towards the cuffs. Cuff ribbing is similar to the hem ribbing.
