The original Swedish name for this pattern is Restväst. In Swedish, “rest” means leftovers and “väst” is vest, so it literally translates to Scrap Vest. While thinking of a good name for the English version, I realized that if an English-speaking person tries to pronounce the Swedish word Restväst, it sounds exactly like Rest Vest! Since the pattern is designed to use the "rest" of the yarn you have at home, the name for the English pattern became obvious. Happy coincidence?
