Inspired by a small beach near my Great Aunt’s home in Panama and Nihon Vogue’s Japanese Lace stitches, the Espino Dress was born while watching the waves make patterns on the sand. The Espino Dress is a sleeveless sheath dress, with lace and cable detailing on both the front and back, separated by purl relief columns down the sides. **Method:** The pattern is worked from the top down, first flat across the back and front panels, then joined in the round and worked either continuously down to the hem or split partway, to once more work flat to the hem. The collar, armhole edges, and hem are worked in stockinette folded double. The lace pattern increases are fully charted, no written chart instructions **Sizes:** 1, (2, 3, 4) (5, 6, 7) (8, 9, 10) **Finished Chest Circumference:** 85, (95, 105, 115) (125, 135, 145) (155, 165, 175) cm 33.5, (37.5, 41, 45) (49, 53, 57) (61, 65, 69) inches **Armhole Depth:** 20, (22, 22, 24) (24, 26, 26) (28, 28, 30) cm 7.75, (8.75, 8.75, 9.5) (9.5, 10.25, 10.25) (11, 11, 11.8) inches **Leg Slit Height from Underarm (Adjustable):** 60 cm/ 24 inches **Length From Underarm to Hem (Adjustable):** 86 cm/ 33.5 inches **Total Length from Back Neck (Adjustable):** 110 cm/ 44 inches **Fit Recommendation:** Dress is intended to have approximately 2 - 10 cm/ 0.75 - 4 inches of positive ease based on the upper chest circumference. Select the size that creates the desired fit you’re comfortable with. If in between sizes, it is recommended to choose the size that best fits your upper chest measurement and to utilize the hip shaping options to make adjustments for the bodice. **Gauge:** 18.5 stitches x 18 rows in Lace pattern in 10 cm/ 4 inches after blocking 22 stitches x 20 rows in Stockinette stitch in 10 cm/ 4 inches after blocking Use the Main Chart stitches 1-24 to make it easy with swatching the lace pattern **Needles:** US 5/ 3.75 mm or as needed to meet gauge for Main fabric US 2/ 2.75 mm or as needed to meet gauge for Stockinette Edges **Yardage:** 1320, (1465, 1585, 1730) (1865, 2000, 2145) (2280, 2415, 2545) yards of dk weight yarn 1190, (1340, 1450, 1585) (1705, 1830, 1960) (2085, 2210, 2330) meters of dk weight yarn Choose a a Heavy Sport to DK weight yarn that achieves gauge, or as in the sample, hold together a combination of Fingering, Lace, and/or Sport weight yarns that achieve gauge. *Adjustments to the length and other additional modifications will affect the amount of yarn needed for the project* **Notions:** Removable stitch markers, cable needle, measuring tape, scrap yarn or barber cords, tapestry needle, 1/2 inch elastic band (at least 3 meters, though more may be needed for the stockinette edges depending on modifications) **Sample:** The sample shown in the photos is size 2, modeled with 2 cm of positive ease around the upper chest.
