This sock pattern set, includes **two** colourwork patterns inspired by springtime cherry blossom. Both designs have 3 stitch count sizes to fit older child to large man-size feet. Two heel patterns are included in the set. The short row heel has a step by step tutorial included. The set has been tech edited and all sizes test knitted. **Dreaming of Kyoto socks** Having been very lucky to go on a trip to visit my daughter in Japan last year, I felt inspired to create a pair of socks that helps me dream of beautiful Kyoto in the springtime. Although I was not there for cherry blossom season, I was moved to recreate it with this pair of socks using some hand-dyed yarn I had purchased as a souvenir. Knit from the top down, these socks have an eye of partridge heel flap and gusset and a colourwork section of cherry blossom trees on the leg. This pattern uses the magic loop circular needle method, but can be knit and was test knitted with 23cm (9 inch) circulars and/or DPNs. Sizing 1 (2, 3) To fit (foot circumference): 19 - 21 (21.5 –23.5, 25.5 – 27.5) cm / 8 (9, 10 ½) inches Finished leg circumference for colourwork: 17.5 (21, 24.5) cm / 7 (8, 9 ½) inches Recommended ease: Approximately 2.5cm (1 inch) of negative ease for colourwork. Cherry Blossoms unfortunately last typically for only one to two weeks and the peak bloom only for a few days! In comparison, we can enjoy our cherry blossom socks all year round and even for many years. With a simple repeating, easy to memorize motif, this chart does have some three colour in one round details but can be left with just the background as the centre colour if preferred, or that detail could also be duplicate stitched. A tutorial for this is also provided. Sizing 1 (2, 3) To fit (foot circumference): 19.5 – 21 (21.5 –23.5, 26-28) cm / 8 (9 ½, 10 ¾) inches. Finished circumference: 17.5 (21, 24.5) cm / 7 (8 ½, 9 ¾) inches. Needles For ribbing and stockinette: 2.25mm (US 1), 80cm (32 inch) circular for magic loop, or DPNs, or two circulars, or a 23cm (9 inch) circular needle as preferred. For colourwork: 2.5mm (US 1.5), 80cm (32 inch) circular for magic loop, or DPNs, or two circulars, or a 23cm (9 inch) circular needle as preferred. Important note: Do check your gauge for fitting. Further sizes can be achieved by going up or down needle sizes. Gauge 34 sts x 44 rnds = 10cm (4 inches) for ribbing and stockinette. 34 sts x 36 rnds = 10cm (4 inches) for colourwork. (This is the same gauge even though we are using a bigger needle size, because for myself and many other knitters, we often knit the colourwork sections tighter than stockinette. Please check your own gauge to see if this works for you).
