Citta sweater

Citta is named after the Italian word for city, città. This design evokes memories of a summer spent in Bergamo Citta Alta, in northern Italy, and its cobblestone streets, city walls, marble churches, columns casting shadows, and moonlit landscapes. This relaxed yet elegant sweater is a versatile staple that can be worn in many seasons and on many occasions. First, the back pieces are separately knit for left and right sides, with increases for neckline shaping. Then, the left and right back pieces are joined to form the yoke and worked down to the underarm. The front stitches are picked up separately along the shoulders, then joined after the front neck slope shaping. The back and front are joined at the underarms to be knit in the round to the hem. Stitches are then picked up around the armhole for the sleeves knit in the round. To finish, stitches are picked up around the neck opening and the collar is worked in rib.
