Chinga La Migra Knit Hat

Inspired by the Melt the Ice hat and the long history of protest knitting. This hat uses stranded colorwork to send a message of resistance. Experience with stranded colorwork is helpful but this pattern is accessible to beginners, I do recommend reviewing the resources given about colorwork and catching floats before starting if its new to you. There are 2 versions of the pattern: An all text version and a checkered version which has less floats and is a bit easier to knit if you are new to colorwork. All profits from pattern will go To benefit PIRC (Portland Immigration Rights Coalition- https://pircoregon.org/) The pattern makes a standard size beanie but you can tailor the length of the brim and the slouchiness of the hat to your desires. Materials: 150-200 yds of worsted yarn in main color(red) and 50-100 yds of worsted yarn in contrast color(black) Stranded colorwork works best using yarns with some stretch like animal fibers so you will have best results with a wool or wool blend yarn. 100% acrylic will not have as much stretch so if you are interested in using you may want to go up a needle size and /or try on your hat as you go. This pattern has been tested and reviewed but please let me know if you notice any errors or have questions about the pattern.
