Nana Socks

This pattern was created in collaboration with my grandmother, whom I call “Nana.” Together, we processed through stitch patterns, heel and toe constructions, yarn choices, and the smallest details, shaping a sock that felt just right. The Nana Socks are worked cuff down, beginning with a 1×1 twisted rib cuff and continuing into cable patterns along the leg and foot. The heel is shaped using German short rows, while the toe is finished with evenly spaced decreases for a rounded fit. Designed to fit a foot circumference, measured around the ball of the foot, of 16-18 (19.5-21, 20.5-23, 23.5-25, 26-28) cm / 6¼-7 in (7¾-8¼, 8-9, 9¼-9¾, 10¼-11) in, with a slight negative ease. Approx. 200 (220, 260, 285, 315) yards / approx. 185 (200, 237, 260, 290) meters of any fingering weight sock yarn will be needed.
