Smuggler's Cowl

The **Smuggler’s Cowl** is a practical and cozy accessory to keep you warm through the colder months of the year. You can smuggle it under any sweater for extra coziness or wear it instead of a shawl. It’s knit from the top down and combines flat knitted parts with parts knitted in the round. With the Italian Tubular Cast-on and Bind-off, the edges are extra stretchy. Knit it in your favorite cozy yarn, use some self striping yarn or if you don’t mind weaving in lots of ends, you can also work it in stripes using your favorite colors. By the way the name of the cowl is inspired by the yarn I used for my first sample: a special Vermont Sheep and Wool Festival edition of Making Tracks, color: Smuggler’s Notch by Junction Fiber Mill. **Sizes** One size **Finished Measurements** The final measurements vary a lot depending on how much you block your cowl. Use these just as a rough orientation. * Total length: 31 cm / 12.25"; with the collar folded down: approx. 22 cm / 8.5" * Total width: 36 cm / 14.25"; collar width: 18 cm / 7" **Gauge** 20 sts × 29 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4" × 4") in stockinette, after blocking. Swatch in stockinette for best accuracy; gauge in 2×2 rib may vary after blocking. Adjust needle size as needed to obtain correct gauge. **Materials** Needles: 4 mm (US 6) circular; cable needle (optional) Several stitch markers and some waste yarn or a stitch holder to put stitches on hold. Yarn: 100g / 200 yards / 183 m of Making Tracks by Junction Fiber Mill (Heavy DK weight) The pattern works well with most DK or light worsted weight yarns. Adjust needle size and yardage as needed to match gauge.
