*The Arden Pullover is a relaxed drop shoulder style sweater with colorwork floral stripes on the body. Knitted in drapey alpaca yarn that provides excellent stitch definition, this sweater is soft and cozy for cold days.*
**CONSTRUCTION**
—
The Arden Pullover is worked top down and seamlessly in stockinette stitch and stranded colorwork. Circular needles are used to work flat at first, beginning with the upper back that increases to the width of the back, then is placed on hold. Stitches are picked up at each side of the piece to create the shoulders and front neckline shaping. The shoulders are joined and worked for a time to create the front, then joined in the round at the underarms to the back. The body is worked in the round to the desired length, finished with 1x1 ribbing, then bound off.
Stitches are picked up around each armhole, first working short rows then knitting in the round while decreasing to the full sleeve length, finishing with 1x1 ribbing and bound off. Lastly, stitches are picked up around the neck opening, worked in 1x1 ribbing and secured down to the inside of the neck opening.

**SKILLS**
—
This is a written pattern assuming foundational sweater knitting knowledge and is not intended to be beginner friendly. Supplemental research or practice to learn new skills may be required to complete this project.
This pattern requires knowledge of knitting flat and in the round, increasing, decreasing, picking up stitches, stranded colorwork, reading a chart, German short rows, and Italian bind off.
Circular needles are used to work flat for the upper back and front pieces, then the work is joined and worked in the round for the rest of the project. The sleeves are worked with the shortest cable length, DPNs, or with a long cable for magic loop.
The suggested cast on and bind off methods can be substituted with any other.
