Year of the horse-horse

Hello world! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I was obviously aware that I hadn’t posted in quite a while, but seeing that my last post was in May, and the one before that in January… Last year saw a lot of big changes for us, and between working, rising a toddler, taking care of our pets, trying to maintain a social life and my other hobbies, there really isn’t much time for crocheting/knitting, let alone coming up with my own patterns. I actually got this guy done in early January but just haven’t gotten around to fully writing out the pattern yet. So now with the Chinese New Year just around the corner, I figured it’s high time to just sit down and get it over with! Materials To make the horse you will need: – A 2.5mm crochet hook – Yarn in your color of choice (I used mahogany, dark brown, white and light yellow) – A tapestry needle and scissors – Stuffing – Safety eyes or black embroidery thread for the eyes – A stitch marker to help you keep track of the start of the round Please note that you can make the horse using any size crochet hook and yarn weight for a smaller or bigger result. I like using DK as it’s most commonly available. Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm crochet hook, the horse should be about 20-25cm tall. Stitches & Abbreviations The pattern is written using US crochet terms in continuous spirals with the addition of some short rows. You will need to know the following kinds of stitches to make him: – Magic Ring (MR) – Single crochet (sc) – Decrease (dec); preferably using the invisible decrease method – Increase (inc) – Chaining (ch) – Working into back loops only (BLO) – Slip stitch (sl)
