It is designed with the beautiful De Rerum Natura yarns in mind, either knit in Gillatt as shown in the sample, or with Ulysse (sport weight) and Bérenice (lace/silk mohair) held together for a little more fluffy version. The hood and the decorative buttonband give this piece its special charm.* **PATTERN NOTES:** The cardigan is worked top down in the round as a seamless raglan construction. Steek stitches are incorporated at the center front, and then cut later for the opening. Short rows set right at the top of the yoke provide some neckline shaping. After the colorwork pattern is established, the yoke, body and sleeves are worked top down in the round. The colorwork itself is only two colors at a time. Then stitches for the hood are picked up and worked bottom up with some light shaping to its final length, before it is closed at the top using the kitchener stitch. Then the steek stitches are secured and cut open. Finally stitches are picked up along the edge for the buttonband, which is worked as a combination of sandwich, to cover the steek edges, ribbing and a neat garter garter border. The yoke is fully charted for each size and a general chart with thorough instructions is provided for the colorwork at the body and sleeves. The pattern also provides some helpful tips on how to adjust it to suit your own preferences, and there is a coloring page for you to play around with different color combinations. **SIZES:** **1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9)** to fit chest circumference 75 (85, 95, 105, 115) (125, 135, 145, 155) cm/30 (34, 38, 42, 46) (50, 54, 58, 62)" I recommend choosing a size with 10 cm/4" - 25 cm/10" positive ease to get a comfortable fit. Row gauge is important for this design, since it defines the yoke depth and therefore the fit around the shoulders, although the design allows you to adjust, if necessary. **NEEDLES:** **Needle A:** 5.0 mm/US 8 circular needle (100 cm/40" 80 cm/32" and 60 cm/24") or size needed for gauge. **Needle B:** 4.5 mm/US 7 circular needle (80 cm/32" and 60 cm/24") or one size smaller than gauge needle. **Needle C:** 4.0 mm/US 6 circular needle (80 cm/32" and 60 cm/24") or two sizes smaller than gauge needle. (2x 150 cm/60" long cables) for buttonband. **OTHERS:** Tapestry needle Stitch markers Scissors Sewing machine - if you choose to secure your steeks that way or Crochet hook (approx. 3 mm/ US 2½) Waste yarn 7 - 9 buttons (4 cm/1½" toggle buttons or 2 cm/¾“ diameter round buttons) The placement and number of buttons can be adjusted while working on the buttonband. Therefore I recommend to have one or two extra. [1]: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fenn-sweater
