Grønland Headband

**GRØNLAND HEADBAND** As in the ”Hønsestrik” (Fair Isle knitting) movement of the 1970s, I have created motifs for the current struggle. I often refer to ”Hønsestrik” as quiet activism. It is a style of knitting that allows us to express our attitudes and wear them on our bodies as a clear signal to the outside world. And it is precisely the fight for Greenland and the rights of Greenlanders that is close to my heart, which I would like to support with this headband. You will not receive a step-by-step pattern to follow, as ”Hønsestrik” is all about playing freely with yarn and motifs. So, you should choose the motifs that are important to you, but you are of course welcome to take inspiration from my headband. You can also choose to find other motifs, or perhaps insert text that expresses something you want to emphasise. **In my book HØNSESTRIK, published by Gyldendal 2025, you can find both alphabets and lots of other motifs.** **Sizes** Size: S/M (M/L) Circumference (headband): approx. 50 (56) cm The measurement equals approx. 160 (178) rounds in height. Width: approx. 11 cm With ”Hønsestrik”, you are not told how much yarn and how many colours you will need. This is not possible. Instead, you will be told how much the design weighs, which will give you an indication of the total amount of yarn required. Feel free to use leftovers from your stash. **Yarn** *I have used:* Pernilla, 100 % wool, 175 m/50 g by Filcolana. The multi-coloured headband in this quality weighs approx. 60 g. *I have used the following colours:* Pernilla Chinese Red, col. 218 Pernilla Raindrop melange, col. 819 Pernilla Natural White, col. 101 **Recommended needles** Dpns 3,5 mm - or a 3,5mm (80 cm) circular needle for the Magic Loop method. Stitch markers **Gauge** 24 stitches x 32 rows in Fair Isle knitting on needle 3,5 mm = 10 x 10 cm. Measure your gauge swatch after washing - it applies to stockinette stitch and Fair Isle knitting. Remember that the needle size is just a recommendation.
