Living in the lower mainland, BC, I’m fortunate to be close by to both nature and the city. Day to day, I feel connected to urban areas, and when I want to get away, there are plenty of forest trails I can venture out to. Still, there are regions that are easily accessible to me that I never visit. Maple Ridge is one of those areas. From the handful of visits I had had out there and by the name alone, I always imagined it as an enchanted forest--the type you see in fairy tales. I pictured rural roads intertwined with tall wooded areas in a far away land, with a smattering of homes among the trees. I’ve recently spent a lot more time in the area and have come to learn that it’s not this magical place after all. It is in fact, very similar to the suburban areas closer to Vancouver. Funny how a name can completely change a perspective. I knit the majority of this Hood in Maple Ridge, in a cozy apartment overlooking a parking lot, feeling very much like home. There are 2 sizes included in the pattern. **S (L)** Hood Height: 12.75 (14.25)” / 32.5 (36) cm Cowl Circumference: 22 (25)” / 56 (63.5) cm Knitting for Olive - Heavy Merino, “Dusty Moose” ⇾ 714 (954) yds / 653 (872) m Or alternative worsted weight yarn. *Please be advised that wool requirements and finished size measurements are approximate. Actual values may vary based on garment size, yarn, needle size, and gauge.* This pattern requires knowledge of: * Reading patterns with multiple size options * Knitting flat and in the round * Short Rows (helpful to know) * Picking up stitches along an edge * Basic crochet techniques (video tutorial provided and could be substituted with an alternative finish) * Making an i-cord For pattern support or feedback, email [wintersweatherknits@gmail.com][1].
