Crisscross is a fun little chart only pattern I’ve been playing with. It’s very straight forward and we’re just using basic mosaic crochet techniques here, no slanted stitches or any hocus pocus. You can either just use two colours, or if you want more of a challenge then you can switch up colour B like I did in my cushion here by adding some tapestry crochet. The idea is that you have three different lengths of pattern blocks, if you like. The chart comes with all these different lengths included and then you can really just line them up as you like. You can also just follow the chart exactly and keep repeating that as if, if making for example a blanket. I list the sequence I used for my Crisscross cushion in the pattern, but it’s honestly very easy to arrange the blocks any way you like. So, I invite you to make your own unique Crisscross piece and see how much fun it is to play with, once you start combining colours and different arrangements of the pattern blocks. This pattern is a **chart only pattern**, with written instructions for what parts of the charts I used for this cushion. The charts are very user-friendly and if lefthanded, you can follow the chart from left to right no problem, it´ll look the same. Following are the stithces we use in this pattern. **Abbreviations (US terms):** ST = stitch/stitches SS = slip stitch CH = chain stitch SC = single crochet DC = double crochet **Mosaic Crochet Technique** This pattern is apt for beginners. If this is your first mosaic project, I suggest you check out my Beginners Guide to Mosaic Crochet video tutorials over on YouTube before you start. When working the mosaic patterns, each row is worked with only one colour at a time. I recommend always using contrasting colours for A and B, that way the patterns pop more. Because the mosaic pattern is always worked from the front side only, the pattern only appears on front side of the afghan, and the back side is striped. **Yarn & hook:** You can use any yarn you like for this pattern and a hook that suits your yarn. I used up some sports weight scraps for my cushion panel and a 3 mm hook. You need 2 x 50g skeins for each colour and my panel is 50 x 50 cm large. The same would work for DK weight, 2 x 50 g skeins for each colour and a 4 mm hook. If you want to make a cushion cover for this same size, but work it in the round and cover both sides, then you just need twice as much yarn. This is actually the perfect project to use scraps and stash, so I highly encourage you to check out what you have in your stash and see if you can do some stash busting. I made my CRISSCROSS cushion with my stash of Jamieson and Smith, Shetland wool. Sizes Crisscross is an interactive pattern with a 16 ST and 8, 16 or 24 rows repeat, so you can use this pattern to make various project in any size you like. When working this pattern flat, you need to do at least 2 repeats wide.
