**Description**
The Henri Sweater is an oversized, casual design inspired by traditional cricket sweaters. With approximately 24 cm [9.4 inches] of chest ease, it offers a comfortable yet structured silhouette. The standout feature is the wide neckband and hems, accented with a classic contrast stripe that gives the sweater its distinctive athletic character.
The body is worked bottom-up in the round to the armholes, where the front and back are shaped separately with neckline, armhole, and shoulder shaping. The shoulders are then joined using a three-needle bind-off. Stitches are picked up along the neckline to shape the neckband. Lastly, the sleeves are worked top down by picking up stitches around the armhole, and shaped with a tailored sleeve cap for a better fit.

**Suggested Yarn**
**Main Color (MC):** 700 (750) 750 (800) 850 (900) (950) gr of Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt (100% Norwegian wool, 50 g = 91 m / 99 yds), DK weight. (sample shown in color 2730)
**Contrast Color (CC):** 50 g for all sizes of Sandnes Garn Peer Gynt (100% Norwegian wool, 50 g = 91 m / 99 yds), DK weight. (sample shown in color 1099)
**⚠️ Important note on yarn choice:** This design is intended to be knit in a non-superwash wool. Superwash-treated yarns tend to relax and spread more after blocking and wear, which may cause the finished garment to become larger than intended, especially given the generous ease of this design. If substituting yarn, be mindful of this behaviour and swatch carefully.
Please note that Peer Gynt Petite Knit is a superwash-treated version of Peer Gynt and may result in a looser fabric and increased dimensions compared to the original Peer Gynt.
**Needles**
• 3.5 mm / US 4 DPNs or circular needles with a cable suitable for small-circumference knitting for the cuffs (or a long cable if using the magic loop method)
• 3.5 mm / US 4 circular needles with at least an 100 cm (40 in) cable for the hem
• 5 mm / US 8 circular needles with a cable suitable for small-circumference knitting for the sleeves (or a long cable if using the magic loop method)
• 5 mm / US 8 circular needles with at least an 100 cm (40 in) cable for the body
**Gauge**
*Main Gauge (Body):* 18 sts × 24 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4 in) in stockinette stitch, worked in the round on larger needles, after blocking
*Hem Gauge (Smaller Needles):* 24 sts × 35 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4 in) in stockinette stitch, worked in the round on smaller needles, after blocking
**Size guide**
The Henri sweater has a relaxed fit and is designed to have approx. 24 cm / (9.4 inches) of positive ease, meaning it is designed to be 24 cm / (9.4 inches) larger in circumference than your chest measurement.
The sizes 1 (2) 3 (4) 5 (6) 7 are intended to fit bust measurements of: 88 (94) 100 (106) 112 (118) 124 cm / 34.5 (37) 39.5 (41.75) 44 (46.5) 49 inches.
The sweater shown in beige tweed is a size 3, and the model has a 100 cm (39.4-inch) chest circumference.
If you prefer a more fitted or closer-to-the-body look, you can simply choose a smaller size than suggested by your chest measurement. For example, sizing down by one size will reduce the ease by approximately 6–8 cm, resulting in a still relaxed, but less oversized fit.
This pattern has been test knitted in sizes 1, 3, 4, and 5.
