Polar Express Dishcloth

Polar Express Dishcloth is the December design for the 2025 Year of Dishcloths Pattern Club! We’re rounding up this year’s YOD pattern club with a design inspired by the music of one of my favourite holiday movies. The Polar Express is one of the movies we watch several times every Christmas season, and it always fills me with a warm, cozy, nostalgic feeling. This dishcloth design features a pretty seed stich border and some simple colourwork. Even if you’ve never tried stranded colourwork, a dishcloth is a fun project to give it a try! It’s a great way to use up yarn scraps too! Keep in mind that cotton yarn doesn’t have as much give as other fibres, so be sure to keep your tension nice and loose!
