Evie Mittens

The Evie Mittens are warm gloves worked bottom up showcasing a sweet textured stitch on the top of the hand. The palms and thumbs are made in a comfortable stockinette stitch to maintain hand dexterity. Cuffs are worked in double knitting to bring extra warmth to the wrists. Sizes: 1 (2, 3) Size Guide: The mittens measure 16 (18, 21) cm or 6.25 (7, 8.25) inches around the fingers, to fit a hand circumference of 16-17 (18-20, 21-22) cm or 6.25-6.75 (7-7.75, 8.25-8.75) inches measured around the widest part of the hand, excluding the thumb. The Evie Mittens are designed to have up to 2 cm (0.75 inches) of negative ease, meaning that the finished accessory is going to be up to 2 cm (0.75 inches) smaller around the fingers than your hand circumference measured around the widest part of the hand, excluding the thumb. The sample is knitted in a size 2 to fit a hand measurement of 18 cm (7 inches). Cuff Circumference: 15.5 (18, 20.5) cm or 6 (7, 8) inches. Length excluding cuff: 19.5 (21, 23) cm or 7.75 (8.25, 9) inches. Note that the length is adjustable. Length including cuff: 21.5 (23, 25) cm or 8.5 (9, 9.75) inches. Gauge: 32 sts x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches) in star stitch on 4 mm (US 6) needles after washing and blocking. Needles: 4 mm and 3 mm (US 6 and US 2.5) / 23 cm (9 inch) and/or 80 cm (32 inch) circular needles and/or DPNs. Yarn: 1 strand of fingering weight yarn + 1 strand of lace weight yarn held together. approx. 130 (140, 160) metres or 142 (153, 175) yards of each. Yarn suggestions: 1 hank of The Camel’s Yarn ‘BFL Sock’ (100 g = 425 m / 465 yds) and 1 ball of Hobbii ‘Friends Kid Silk’ (25 g = 200 m / 218 yds) or 1 ball of Knitting For Olive ‘Merino’ (50 g = 250 m / 273 yds) and 1 ball of Knitting For Olive ‘Soft Silk Mohair’ (25 g = 225 m/246 yds) or 1 skein of Drops ‘Flora’ (50 g = 210 m / 230 yds) and 1 ball of Drops ‘Kid-Silk’ (25 g = 210 m / 230 yds) The sample was knitted using 1 strand of The Camel’s Yarn ‘BFL Sock’ in the shade Flora Day held with 1 strand of Hobbii ‘Friends Kid Silk’ in the shade 44 Rose. I used approx. 30 g of ‘BFL Sock’ and 16g of ‘Friends Kid Silk’ upon completion of the mittens (this does NOT include yardage for a swatch).
