Starting at the cuff, the ribbing is worked in the round, then the short row technique is used to turn the work and to proceed to the leg. For the heel, the stitches are divided into N1 and N2, and the heel is worked back and forth on N1 only. Stitches are picked up along the heel edges then the sock is worked in the round again. N1 stitches are worked in Stockinette stitch with decreases to shape the gusset while N2 continues the rib pattern. After the gusset, the foot is worked even.
