I chose yarns in shades of green and deep jewel tones to mimic vines and leaves crawling up an old wall. If you decide to substitute yarn, be sure to knit a gauge swatch to ensure you are happy with the fabric, the drape and at the pattern gauge. Please note that if you substitute yarn, finished size and yarn amounts will vary. You can easily modify your cowl by adding or omitting pattern repeats. I did use almost ALL of each color of my yarn! Kits available through Knit ATX! See last photo of yarn in skein form here. **Skill level:** Intermediate. I developed this pattern specifically to learn the most popular brioche increases and decreases. **Techniques used:** Twisted German Cast On, knit, purl, brioche purl (brp), brioche knit (brk), sl1yo, brioche increases and decreases, knitting in the round, Elastic Bind Off. **Construction Notes:** This cowl is knit completely in the round from the top down, starting immediately with two-color brioche increases and decreases to create beautiful motifs resembling climbing vines and ladybugs, small leaves and ending with large monstera leaves as a gorgeous border. The twists and turns in the stitch patterns and combination with the luxuriousness of this yarn makes this cowl an absolute delight to knit and wear! Throw it on easily over your favorite outfit to really dress it up, or even over your pajamas if you’re feeling chilly to add some luxury to your day. Double it up for those super cold days! **» Sizes: Small (Large)** 30 (60)'' / 76 (152) cm circumference and 12'' / 30 cm deep, measured after blocking. **» Gauge:** 16 sts and 24 rnds = 4'' / 10 cm (measured in two-color brioche Climbing Vines and Ladybugs stitch pattern knit in the round, taken after blocking) ***MATERIALS:*** **» Yarn:** Fingering / Sock weight **Main Color (MC):** 200 (400) yds / 183 (366) m **Contrast Color (CC):** 200 (400) yds / 183 (366) m **» Shown in:** Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere (70% Superwash Merino Wool, 20% Cashmere, 10% Nylon; 400 yds / 366 m per 113 g) **MC:** 1 (1) skein in Dreamgirls (*light green*) **CC:** 1 (1) skein in Charcoal Prismatic (*dark*) **» Needles:** 24'' / 61 cm US 4 / 3.5 mm circular needles Circular needles are used for knitting in the round. Adjust needle size as needed to obtain proper gauge. **» Tools:** Stitch marker for noting beginning of round, 9 or 19 contrasting stitch markers to note stitch pattern repeats depending on what size you’re making, row counter or preferred method for keeping track of pattern, tapestry needle for weaving in ends Many thanks to my tech editor Chaitanya Muralidhara @beginswithac for all her help!! And, as always, many thanks to the support and inspiration of my Patreon community. I could not do what I do and spend my days designing new patterns without them.
