Scent of saffron

Scent of saffron is a vest made of alpaca wool combined with a thin mohair/silk. It is a stylish and also functional piece of clothing. The vest is crocheted double stranded throughout the work. It is worked from down to top at first in round and after the split for armholes in flat. In the end the shoulder seams are crocheted together and you will crochet an elastic lining on bottom, on the armholes and on the neckline. The pattern chart consists of two rows and the instruction is written in US terms. There is a written instruction as well as pattern charts. You need to know: chain st, slip st, single crochet, double crochet and treble crochet. The design has its origin in the colourful and inspiring city of Marrakech in Morocco, also known as the Ochre City. I visited there for the New Years and became inspired by the narrow alleys with dozens and dozens of small souks, filled with colourful spices, by the decorative doorways in the buildings with deep coloured facades and by the ornamental tiles you could see everywhere. I wanted to create a design that could be used in our cold climate but still be reminiscent of the beautiful, warm and friendly Marrakech.
