Living in the PNW, I’m often inspired by the landscape surrounding me. The Misty Pines motif was inspired by those crisp fall afternoon hikes where you can barely make out the trees for all the fog. As the fog clears, you start to see how dense the forest really is, and the combination of trees and mist form beautiful patterns in the distance. Misty Pines is a top down drop-shoulder sweater with an option of 3 different colorwork motifs on the bottom of the body and sleeves. The back yoke is worked flat, working short rows to shape shoulders to desired length. Next, there is some underarm shaping before the back panel is put on hold. The left and right shoulders are picked up while working additional shaping until casting on collar sts to join all sts and work in the round. The body is then worked to desired length, adding in your preferred colorwork motif to body and sleeves (with 2 shaping options for sleeves). Reverse charts also included! This pattern comes in 12 sizes and is meant to be work with approximately 7-8 in (18-20.5 cm) positive ease. The model has a bust circumference of 34 in (85 cm) and is wearing a size 4 with 7.5 in (19 cm) of positive ease.  Don’t miss out on the matching Misty Pines [Beanie][1] and [Mitts][2] patterns. **This pattern has been tech edited and tested.** **Yarn requirements:** This pattern uses Worsted weight yarn, but any yarn can be used as long as you achieve gauge. A buffer has been added to ensure you have enough yarn. This pattern uses 7 colors with different amounts needed; Color A is used for the majority of the body and will require the most yarn. Colors B-F use the least amount and each require the same amount of yarn. Color G is used at the bottom as well as for the body hem & sleeve cuffs. ***A Note About Choosing Colors*** This motif is meant to fade from lightest to darkest (or darkest to lightest if you choose the reverse chart). To achieve a similar effect, you will want to pick a neutral Main Color (such as a white/cream or black/charcoal) and then two dominant colors for the sets of trees that each have three shades. For example, if you want one column of trees to be brown and one column to be gray (as pictured), you would choose a light brown, medium brown, and dark brown as well as a light gray, medium gray, and dark gray. It's okay if the lightest of each color match in tone as they will be offset. **YARN USED** Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Worsted 100% Fine Highland Wool (Worsted Weight) 123 yds (112 m) / 50g *This is measured using 50g hanks, but 150g hanks are also available online.* **MAIN CHART ORDER:** **A: Highland Fleece** 627 (674, 734, 790, 863) (942, 1014, 1088, 1168) 1249, 1315, 1376 yds 255 (274, 299, 321, 351) (383, 412, 442, 475) 508, 535, 559 g 573 (617, 671, 722, 789) (862, 927, 995, 1068) 1142, 1202, 1258 m 6 (6, 6, 7, 8) (8, 9, 9, 10) 11, 11, 12 hanks **B: Drift Wood C: Gravel Road D: Dark Chocolate E: Grey Harbor F: Storm Cloud** 76 (81, 89, 95, 104) (114, 122, 131, 141) 151, 159, 166 yds 31 (33, 36, 39, 42) (46, 50, 53, 57) 61, 65, 68 g 69 (74, 81, 87, 95) (104, 112, 120, 129) 138, 145, 152 m 1 (1, 1, 1, 1) (1, 1, 2, 2) 2, 2, 2 hanks per color **G: Cast Iron** 119 (128, 139, 150, 164) (179, 192, 206, 221) 237, 249, 261 yds 48 (52, 57, 61, 67) (73, 78, 84, 90) 96, 101, 106 g 109 (117, 127, 137, 150) (163, 176, 189, 202) 217, 228, 239 m 1 (2, 2, 2, 2) (2, 2, 2, 2) 2, 3, 3 hanks **REVERSE CHART ORDER:** **A: Cast Iron** 627 (674, 734, 790, 863) (942, 1014, 1088, 1168) 1249, 1315, 1376 yds 255 (274, 299, 321, 351) (383, 412, 442, 475) 508, 535, 559 g 573 (617, 671, 722, 789) (862, 927, 995, 1068) 1142, 1202, 1258 m 6 (6, 6, 7, 8) (8, 9, 9, 10) 11, 11, 12 hanks **B: Dark Chocolate C: Gravel Road D: Drift Wood E: Storm Cloud F: Grey Harbor** 76 (81, 89, 95, 104) (114, 122, 131, 141) 151, 159, 166 yds 31 (33, 36, 39, 42) (46, 50, 53, 57) 61, 65, 68 g 69 (74, 81, 87, 95) (104, 112, 120, 129) 138, 145, 152 m 1 (1, 1, 1, 1) (1, 1, 2, 2) 2, 2, 2 hanks per color **G: Highland Fleece** 119 (128, 139, 150, 164) (179, 192, 206, 221) 237, 249, 261 yds 48 (52, 57, 61, 67) (73, 78, 84, 90) 96, 101, 106 g 109 (117, 127, 137, 150) (163, 176, 189, 202) 217, 228, 239 m 1 (2, 2, 2, 2) (2, 2, 2, 2) 2, 3, 3 hanks **NEEDLES & NOTIONS** For neck, cuff, and body ribbing: US 5 (3.75 mm) 16-32 in (40-80 cm) circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge For body: US 7 (4.5 mm) 16-32 in (40-80 cm) circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.
