Robin

Robin is a hooded cowl inspired by the hip of the Middle Ages, and this practical and elegant garment can be just as cosy and functional today. I chose the theme of Robin Hood for their series as I have always been inspired by its theme of fairness. Robin and his companions take action not out of greed, but to restore balance. They are not fighting authority itself, but the abuse of it. It’s a refusal to accept a world where power serves itself instead of the people, and it asks the timeless question: What do we owe one another when those in power forget their duty of care? * Sizing is included for shoulder widths of 78-160cm, however the pattern is also something of a recipe, so it would be fairly easy to make it larger or smaller as needed. * The hood can be made deeper, longer, or more snug, and the cape can be worked to any length. * Suits 500-700m or more of DK or light worsted weight yarn. * Notions: Size 3.5mm (US size 4 - or to suit gauge) circular needles of 80cm/31” or longer. 3.75mm needles for the colourwork if your colourwork tends to be tight. A second longer circular needle may be useful for the CO and the later rounds of the cape. Also an embroidery needle for grafting chin and seaming the hems. * Gauge: 22 sts x 30 rows for a 10cm (4”) square. Gauge is not critical here, however knowing your gauge will help give you more accurate sizing. * My project page can be found [here][1]. The pictured hood used 530m (580y) of the wonderful Gobsmacked Silky Yak DK in 2 colours, 450m/480y of C1 (red) & 73m/80y of C2 (olive), for a 100cm/40” shoulder circumference.
