Ay up M' Duck Cowl

The gently undulating peaks and troughs of the Ay up M’ Duck cowl are inspired by the rolling hills of Derbyshire where ‘Ay up M’ Duck’ is a friendly greeting for those that you are genuinely happy to see. The Ay up M’ Duck cowl is a lightweight 4 ply cowl ideal for spring / autumn when you need something around your neck to keep the chill off, but when you are not yet ready to reach for full winter wear. The cowl is knitted seamlessly in the round working one colour at a time and includes both full written, and charted instructions. The pattern can be worked using several different colours or alternating just two colours depending on preference, so bring out all the minis or highlight your one special skein, the choice is yours. The sample was knitted using Ducky Darlings advent yarn paring it with a solid West Yorkshire Spinners sock yarn. If, like me, you already have a lot of 4 ply minis / scraps, or even left overs from making your Ay up M' Duck Jumper, this makes for the perfect low-cost knit to gift or keep. **Special Stitches / Techniques** German twisted cast on (or alternative stretchy cast on of choice), knit, purl, slipped stitches, working in the round using a circular needle. **Yarn** Main Colour (for rib and thin stripes) – 130 m (142 yd) (approximately 33g) Contrast Colour(s) – 200 m (219 yd) total or 20 m (22 yd) (approximately 5g) per colour for 10 stripes **Size** Whilst the pattern is one size, instructions are included for how to make adjustments.
