Betty Button top

The Betty Button top is a nice and easy crochet pattern perfect for advanced beginners. It's worked top-down without any sewing required, primarily using double crochet, making it a quick and enjoyable project. It features adjustable straps fastened with buttons, hence the name! The straps and edging use a contrasting color for a pop of detail. The Betty Button top is suitable for both casual and dressier outfits. Available in multiple sizes, this pattern is also easily adjustable to fit different body types. LANGUAGE English (US terminology) SKILL LEVEL Easy / advanced beginner. The pattern uses basic stitches but involves a little shaping (with increases) GAUGE Blocked: 15 sts × 9 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4"), in double crochet SIZES There are 9 base sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4) 5 (6, 7, 8, 9). The pattern also includes options to *GO PLUS* or *GO MINUS* on any base size. See more below. FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Chest circumference (base sizes): 71 (81, 91, 102) 112 (122, 132, 142, 152) cm / 28 (32, 36, 40) 44 (48, 52, 56, 60) inches. *The GO PLUS / GO MINUS options* enlarges or reduces the finished chest circumference of any base size by 5 cm (2”). Wear the top with 5 cm (2”) of *negative ease* at the chest for a tight fit, or with 0-5 cm (0-2”) of *positive ease* for a less tight fit. CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS: The pattern includes some tips on how to customize the top, in terms of armhole depth; chest circumference; top length; shaping below the bust; and width of edging. **MATERIALS** YARN Category 4 : MEDIUM weight (worsted, aran), in two colors. The secondary color is used for straps and edging. Pattern sample uses: Stina 8/8, from Svarta Fåret. 100% combed cotton. 80 m/50 g (87 yd/1.76 oz). Approximate yarn amounts **Main color:** 340 (385, 425, 505) 545 (600, 640, 715, 750) meters / 370 (420, 465, 550) 595 (655, 700, 780, 820) yards **Secondary color:** 65 (70, 75, 85) 90 (95, 100, 105, 110) meters / 70 (75, 80, 95) 100 (105, 110, 115, 120) yards The amounts include additional meterage / yardage to “GO PLUS” on the size. HOOK 4.0 mm (US G-6) - or the size needed to get gauge. NOTIONS & OTHER 4 buttons; approximately 2 cm (0.75") in diameter. Stitch markers (4 or more), tape measure, scissors, yarn needle to weave in ends.
