Rustling Leaves Socks are romantic lace socks with a delicate leaf motif framed by subtle honeycomb borders. They are finished with a feminine ruffle cuff that adds a playful, vintage-inspired touch. The socks are worked top down, in the round, with a lace panel. The lace pattern is customized for each size. In this pattern, I also explain how to knit a heel that is very popular in the Russian-speaking knitting community. In Russian, it is called “ot skuki” (which translates to “from boredom”). This heel is a modified version of the German short-row heel. It creates a neat and comfortable fit without holes, and it can be worked both from the cuff down and from the toe up. In this pattern, the instructions are given for the top-down version.
