Greenery Mitts

Companions to the [Greenery Hat][2] and [Greenery Cowl][3], these richly textured mitts feature elegant leaves, crisp half-twisted ribbing, and contrasting seed stitch. The leafy motif combines a cluster stitch, two-stitch cables, and simple lace, but in any round you will only need to use one of these techniques. The gusset increases are placed on the palm side only, to create a graceful shape and comfortable fit. **Skills & Techniques** The Alternate Cable Cast On (optional) and Backwards Loop Cast On, working a small circumference in the round, picking up stitches, working cluster stitches, two-stitch cables, yarn overs, and decreases. Both charts and full written instructions are provided. **Materials Needed** 1 skein of ChristalLK Peregrine DK (100% Est A Laine Merino; 208 yds/190m per 100g skein), or 117 (130, 150, 166) yds/107 (118.5, 137.5, 152)m of DK weight yarn. Sample shown in the colour ‘Douglas’. You will also need a cable needle, 1 end-of-round stitch marker, 2 contrasting stitch markers, waste yarn for putting the thumb stitches on hold, and a tapestry needle for weaving in the ends. **Finished Measurements** Relaxed after blocking: 6.5 (6.75, 7.5, 7.75)”/16.5 (17.5, 19, 19.5)cm palm circumference, and 7 (7.5, 8, 8.5)”/18 (19, 20.5, 22)cm length from cast on to bind off. Sizes 1 (2, 3, 4) to fit 7 (7.5, 8, 8.5)”/17.75 (19, 20.25, 21.5)cm palm circumference with approx. 0.5-0.75”/1.25-2cm negative ease.
