A Beautiful Mess

This Pattern is designed with the movie "The Substance" in mind. The pattern is made for the 2025 Super Sock Scarefest, participants get the pattern for free. This is a recipe for your uniquely own beautiful mess socks. Because we are all unique in our life experiences, dreams and hopes. My feet are size 37 German, 6 US and a bid wider, like size 38/7. I generally knit size M patterns a bit shorter on the foot part, and they fit. I've added notes to where to add more stitches to customize it to your feet, but note that these modifications have not been tested. You can also use your preferred Basic Vanilla Sock recipe and just add the mess. Yarn: fingering weight sock yarn Roughly 20-25g of each: Light Red, Red, Light Blue, Blue, Yellow and Bright Green (Neon) You can also use other colours, scrap yarn or break up yarn with long colour transitions, like Zauberball from Schöppel, to keep the theme, the bright / neon green is needed. Needles: 2-2.5 mm or your preferred needle size one doublepointed (or shorter circular) needle in your chosen needle size Gauge: (only for one sample, go by your preferred one and just adapt for the Cushion part) 24 sts x 26 rnds = 10 cm x 10 cm / 4” x 4” in stockinette stitch knit in the round after blocking. The recipe is written for circular needles, but is adaptable to other methods of sock knitting. The leg portion is meant to be tight fitting so the socks will stay up, the second Cuff recipe is an option to lengthen the leg portion, it's called The Protective Coat. This pattern uses an Afterthought Heel, but you are your own beautiful mess, so you can use your own heel.
