Artisan Market Basket

Notes: The basics of this basket are always the same. You may use as many strands, colors and gauges of yarn as you feel comfortable handling. The idea is to create a unique color palette/texture and a hefty gauge to facilitate a relatively quick project that uses your leftover stash yarns. Feel free to change the diameter of your bag by reducing or increasing the number of rounds before working the sides. Similarly, you can make your bag as shallow or deep as you wish. Simply work more or less rounds vertically. This basic pattern is designed to use attached handles of your choosing but instructions on how to create an incorporated, crocheted handle (as shown below) are at the end of the general instructions. Materials: 8-10 mm crochet hook as appropriate for your multi strand gauge Small Basket- 1 ¼ lbs/550 grams mixed yarn scraps fingering to bulky Large basket – 2/1/4 lbs/1000 grams mixed yarn scraps fingering to bulky Handles: Long 60“ x ¾ “ (2 – 30” handles) Short 18-20” x ¾” (2- 9” to 10” handles)
